Air Transport | Changes of European rules, related to the approval of Known Consignors

We would like to update our clients with latest changes in the European rules concerning the approval of Known Consignors.

Generally, only Known Consignors can be part of the system called “secured supply chain”, in air freight traffic.

All potential Known Consignors will have to be audited by INAC (Civil Aviation Portuguese Institute) about cargo handling security, people recruitment, warehousing and transportation from the factory to the point of dispatch.

Till 29th April 2010 the Known Consignors were approved by the Regulated Agents (forwarders) and took part of their data bases.

The EU Regulation nr. 185/ 2010 of 4th March 2010 changed this assumption and created a transitory period till the 29th April 2013.

From this date onwards, only the Known Consignors approved by ANSAC (National Authority of Civil Aviation) will be registered in the European Database of Regulated Agents and Known Consignors.

Considering the proximity of above date we strongly advise our clients, the actual Known Consignors who want to keep their status or the new candidates to start now the process for Known Consignor approval near above entity.

Porlogis team will be available for any clarification or help you may need.
