CNN special report about Portuguese foot wear industry

The "great strides" of the Portuguese footwear industry are reported by the US television channel CNN.

In this report, main Portuguese footwear producers are praised for their success that overcomes expectations in a fragile economy.

"Shoemaking, one of the most traditional and oldest industries in the country, is mapping out a new future by exporting its way out of the crisis. And some are discovering new ways to gain traction overseas." – explains CNN’s report.

According to the industry group APPICAPS, Portuguese shoes are now the second most expensive in the world, behind Italian shoes. To CNN, the sector that grows its exports 6% per year, against the background of the current crisis, is "the glue holding a fragmented economy together".
